Time to be KIND!!!

10 Feb

Finally a new post…and it’s not even about food!

February is not my favourite month in the year. Usually it’s been winter for a while and I miss the sun! The lack of sun and cold sometimes make me very grumpy, that’s why I think Kindness Week is GREAT! Kindness Week is one week where people are encouraged to be kind to everyone.

Now in its 4th year, Kindness Week was started by Rabbi Reuven Bulka and United Way Ottawa. Rabbi Bulka want to know: what if we could make Ottawa a kinder community? Would we need to spend so much time on anti-bullying, anti-racism and issues of mistrust? Or is there an easier and more effective way to spread kindness? So with United Way Ottawa’s help Kindness Week was started. During the week of February 18th to 25th there will be all kinds of different kind activities taking place. Individuals and organizations are also making the effort to be extra kind.

I know over this week I am going to make the extra effort to be kind, maybe I will hold more doors open, smile at everyone and maybe even cook something for others! Stay tuned to see how I am kind(er) over Kindness Week (it will involve food in some way!).

Don’t feel like you have to participate in one of the organized events to take part in Kindness Week! Bake a cake for your neighbor, buy a coffee for the person behind you, smile at everyone you walk buy, leave an extra big tip, etc. There are tons of small and large ways to be kind, be kind in your way! If you do, do something, let the United Way Ottawa know on Twitter or share it on the Kindness Week website by clicking here.

If you want to find out more about what has been organized check out the Kindness Week website www.kindottawa.ca. Check out the Kindness Week blog here. You can also follow Kindness Week on Twitter at twitter.com/kindottawa and if you like to tweet and are doing something kind use the hashtag #kindottawa.
The Kindness Week launch is happening Friday February 18th at 10:30am in front on D’Arcy McGee’s at 90 Sparks St. come on down to experience the kindness!

Alright Ottawa time to be KIND!!!
