Tonight we had a great dinner, pan seared maple trout. The thing that made this recipe so good was how fast it was. It actually takes longer to make the side dishes than to cook the trout. In all I think it took me 5 minutes. So if you ever have a busy night and some trout (or salmon) give this recipe a try! (I found it on foodnetwork.com)
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 2 or 3 trout fillets
- 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
Directions
- Place a frying pan over high heat and add the oil, allow to heat for about 30 seconds.
- Season trout with salt and pepper and place skin side down in the hot skillet. Do not move the trout – allow it to cook for 1-2 minutes or until the skin is nice and crispy.
- Flip the fish and add the maple syrup and fresh juice to the pan. Cook for another minute.
- Remove the fish from the pan. Reserve the juices in the pan to drizzle over the fish.
- It is that easy! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
