It’s Friday night, TGIF! Do you have any plans for this weekend? There is a lot going this weekend for a foodie to choose from. The Ottawa Food and Wine show is happening and on Monday night awesome chefs from the city will be competing in Gold Medal Plates. Both are pretty expensive, I think it was $350 a ticket for Gold Medal Plates, it’s sold out now. If you’re looking for something fun to do that’s inexpensive and that is helping out the community, sign up for the Ottawa Foodie Challenge!
The object of the challenge is to win as many points as possible. The organizing team has created a list of Ottawa foodie destinations. The Ottawa Foodie Challenge asks you to visit the places on the foodie list and perform certain tasks for ‘points’. Different items on the list are worth various points. Its up to you to navigate the city and collect as many points as possible, once you’ve completed all of the challenges you want to do, you need to submit your pictures to Flickr. At 7pm the winner of the challenge will be announced at 7pm.
What makes this event even better is the fact that all of the money raised will go to the Ottawa Food Bank. The Ottawa Food Bank is one of my favourite charities. It supports 140 emergency food programs that feed approximately 45,000 people per month – 37 per cent of whom are children. That’s a LOT of people.
If you do compete watch out for team Cereal Killers! We will be out to kick some butt!
