Pulled Pork…SO Yummy!!!

Last weekend I made one of my all time favourites…pulled pork!!! With the Super Bowl coming up really soon, I needed to test out a new pulled pork recipe to make sure that it was ready for the big game! I have made pulled pork 7 or 8 times and each time it turns out great! It’s a great meal to do on the BBQ for a supper with friends, as long as you have time.

Ingredients:

  • 4tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp cumin
  • 2 tbsp oregano
  • 8-9lb pork butt (with fat on top)

Step #1

Mix all of your spices together. You can use a mason jar or bowl. I used my mortar and pestle because I wanted a chance to play with it!

Step #2DSC_0160

Cover the entire pork butt liberally with the spice mixture. Place the pork in a roasting pan with the fat on the top. The fat is uber important. Since you cook the pork low and slow, it will melt into the pork as it roasts and keep it super moist. Cover and place the pork in a preheated oven to 300 degrees F. Leave it for 5 to 6 hours.

Step #3

Take the pork out of the oven and let cool for ten or fifteen minutes.DSC_0162DSC_0163

Step #4

Take two forks and shred the pork into small pieces. Be careful the outside may be cool but the inside will still be hot.

Step #5

EAT!!! While shredding I usually eat about a pound of pulled pork but you can also put it into grilled cheese, eggs Benedict or in a pulled pork sandwich. For the sandwich I put some pulled pork on a hamburger bun with some homemade BBQ sauce and coleslaw.
